If I had my own world...

If I had my own world
I'd fill it with wealth and desire
A glorious past to admire
And voices of kids out walking dogs
Birds, planes, trees, cleanest cars

If I had my own world

I'd love it for all that's inside it
There'd be no more wars, death or riots
There'd be no more police, packed parking lots
Guns, bombs sounding off

If I had my own world

I'd build you an empire
From here to the far lands
To spread love like violence

-Angels and Airwaves :)

But If I had my own world It would look exactly like today :)

I wish there was a way to capture on film the feeling this place has. I went to Burleigh Heads today. Its this little surf town-locals-only-no-touristy place I love it! In five minutes of being there I saw three VW vans ya know "Fried out crombie" I was greeted by some hobos jammin out to some Bob Dylan and watching TV on a pale blue vintage tube sitting on top of a trash can. Yeah homeless people here get it! I got a hot coco at the surf club and watched the gorgeous surfer boys catch the last few waves as the sun set. LIFE IS PERFECT.

And to top things off I have now heard crikey said in everyday conversation 3 TIMES!

Dear Life,

You are compleate.

Love, Me

Yesterday I learned an important life lesson. Matt, the dad of the family is a surgeon. Last night he got a picture message from someone at the hospital, some guy had sawed his pointer finger off and they wanted Matt to make the call if it was worth trying to save his finger. Matt was like "Hey let me call you back in ten minutes, I have an emergency at home." then he turns to me and says "Number one rule, cooking the perfect steak is way more important than treating patients" I could not stop laughing, I sure do hope that man got his finger back, our steaks were delicious anyhow.

Tomorrow I am going to Brisbane! STOKED!  I love it here, I'm probably most likely possibly never want to leave EVER!! And now we're done.

Root is a very offensive word.

bye.

Don't you know how to walk DUMMIE??

The sidewalk ends here. Seriously. They make no sense, one minute you're walking along, and then there is this incredibly awkward moment when you realize you're standing in the middle of the street.

Anyway, one of the very first of my yank mistakes coming here was not getting the lingo, the first day we all went on a walk to the duck pond and I kept getting on to one of the boys for calling his brother a dummie. I kept giving them dirty looks and saying things like "Please talk nicely!"little did I know a dummie is what they call pacifiers. So when the boys were saying "Your dummie!" that wasn't just two year old talk for "You are a dummie" .....I'm stupid. I've composed a few word swaps that confuse the heck outta me!

Diaper=Nappy
Nap=Sleep
Counter=Bench
Stroller=Pram
Candy=Lollie
Cookies=Biscuits or Bikkies

And the ever so classic

Pastor pass the pasta =
"Eh Passta Passtaaa Passta!"

Living the dream; but really

Okay okay this post is incredibly overdue. But I'll get to it before we get down with the weird stuff :)

I'm in Australia!! Pronounced UHH-Stralia ya gotta say it right.

In the mean time of writing this I've already thrown a few steaks on the barbie, I'm totally the barbie master! And they really do cook everything on it, I totally thought that was just some stereotype, like the "G'day mate throw some shrimps on the barbie, the dingo ate my baby!!" But seriously: bacon, eggs, pancakes,  pizza, whole chickens just to name a few, I told them the only thing left to surprise me is ice cream, if they can cook ice cream on the barbie nothing will ever be the same.

Anyways I'll keep this post sort and sweet! I just wanted to introduce the blog to go along with my adventures. I've waited my whole life to be in the place and every morning I wake up surprised, expecting it to be a dream. I truly believe once you make a decision the universe conspires to make it happen. ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE! While packing up my room a few weeks ago I found an old bucket list I had written about a year ago, I was seriously shocked at how many thing I had crossed off without even knowing! And I'm shocked at how it keeps getting longer. The more things I experience, the more thing I WANT to experience. Alright with that said I'll end with a quote that changed my life. An excerpt of a poem I should say, by Matthew Arnold:

But often, in the world's most crowded streets,
But often, in the din of strife,
There rises an unspeakable desire
After the knowledge of our buried life
